There’s a price many of us pay for the beautiful buds that come with the change of season. Spring is a time of renewal, rebirth, and hay fever. Finding natural remedies that can assist in bringing nearly immediate relief are important for anyone who has ever had a sneezing fit, struggled with watery or itching eyes, and dreaded being outside because of issues with hay fever. Take a look at Hanna’s hay fever remedies below and get some relief, naturally!
Hay Fever Remedies at Home
To decongest sinuses: squeeze the juice of half a lemon into a glass of warm water, add a little honey to taste. Sip this slowly and drink 10 glasses throughout the day. Do not drink with food.
Eat 1 teaspoon local honey sprinkled with freshly ground black pepper. Local honey has natural antihistamines that are specific to your area.
For congestion and trouble breathing: drink peppermint tea and apply warm tea bags to the bridge of the nose to improve breathing. Both the use of the warm peppermint tea bag and drinking the tea will help to break up mucous accumulations and improve breathing. Applying peppermint essential oil to your temples and the bridge of your nose will also provide the same improvements and help ease the pain of sinus headaches. If you choose this remedy, be sure to use a carrier oil when applying peppermint essential oils to avoid irritating the skin.
Add one tablespoon of dried thyme to a cup of hot water and steep for 5 minutes. Drink this when sinus issues begin. Add fresh thyme to your meals.
Horseradish will provide a bit of relief right away when sinus issues occur and has shown success in fighting sinus infections. Try eating a small amount of prepared horseradish or add it to a sandwich if eating it alone is too strong.

Try to avoid dairy when you are suffering from sinus issues and focus on flushing your system with clear fluids like water or coconut water. The key to getting quick relief is finding which remedies work best for you in conjunction with the methods you already use. Hanna created an herbal combination called Sinus Blend that uses the sharp bite of horseradish with a combination of other herbs to bring relief and she also created a homeopathic called Allergies to do the same. We even have bee pollen available to help you combat your allergies naturally! In fact, we’ve created an Allergy and Sinus section of our website with several products that have shown great promise in providing relief.
