Kroeger Herb introduced a new product to their line of Complete Concentrates and we couldn’t be more excited! Rhodiola is an adaptogenic herb with benefits from head to toe and we’ve compiled some of the highlights here. Take a look to learn more about Rhodiola, a powerful root!
- Rhodiola was used in traditional folk medicine to increase physical endurance, work
productivity, longevity, resistance to high altitude sickness, and to treat fatigue, depression, anemia, impotence, gastrointestinal ailments, infections, and nervous disorders.
Before you discount Rhodiola as the “cure-all” of the moment, take a look at our post on adaptogens and how they support the entire body.
- In ancient medicine, Rhodiola was used for pain, headache, scurvy, hemorrhoids, as a stimulant, an anti-inflammatory, to enhance fertility, and for the treatment of cold and flu.
- Current medical and pharmacological tests indicate benefits in relieving fatigue, increasing attention span, improving memory, and boosting work productivity in healthy individuals.
- General benefits include heartbeat regulation, preventing stress-induced cardiac damage, improved sexual function, increased physical work capacity with dramatically shortened recovery periods, menopausal-related disorders, and depression.
Rhodiola is a fantastic addition to the adapotgenic herbs available from Kroeger including Schizandra (which was recently featured on Dr. Oz as an anti-aging miracle adaptogen) and American Ginseng which benefits energy levels, especially in men.

This sounds awesome! I want to buy this asap…but wondering, can this herb be taken safely if you’re a nursing mother? Thank you!

Hi Amy, we’re so glad you’re excited for Rhodiola! As with any herbal supplement when you are pregnant or nursing, we must insist that you check with your physician before taking it.

If one is currently taking Schizandra does one take Rhodiola along with? Or just one or the other. Thank you
Sara Beth // Nov 6, 2012 at 1:59 pm
Thanks for your question Jo Beth. Many adaptogenic herbs work well for a few months but then their benefits become less noticeable. If you’re currently taking Schizandra, continue until you notice that change then begin Rhodiola for a few months, and so on.
