    Bay leaf is a digestive aid and stimulates the appetite.

  • For diarrhea try strained carrots, cinnamon, apples, or rice gruel for relief.
  • Barley is an excellent food for children suffering from diarrhea or other inflammation in the bowels.
  • Tomatoes and papaya will help digest protein and artichokes improve weak digestion.
  • Sage improves digestive function and helps the body digest protein.
  • Arrowroot is very easily digestible, creating no gastric upset. It forms a nourishing diet. People suffering from bacillary dysentery and gastric upset would find it most suitable. Take a teaspoonful of arrowroot, make a smooth paste with cold milk or water, stir well, and boil. Add a little lime juice just before taking it.
  • Thyme is a digestive tonic, improving sluggish digestion. It has been used for gastric problems such as colic, indigestion, and gas.
  • Alfalfa seeds are loaded with vitamin C and vitamin K. Alfalfa contains many trace minerals that improve digestion.
  • Blackberries are food for your colon and are especially helpful for diarrhea.
  • Caraway is very much like anise, and when mixed with anise, it is twice as good. It is antispasmodic, and subsides gastric distention. It is a digestive aid, and is used to prevent cramping when added to laxative formula.
  • Celery aids in protein digestion. It increases appetite, is good in curing mucus, and is useful in gastric trouble.
  • Marjoram has been used for gastrointestinal difficulties.
  • Citrus fruit and bell peppers both make protective enzymes that aid in digestion.
