No one likes the feeling of a queasy stomach. Feeling hot and cold, dizzy, maybe even breaking out in sweats, the feeling of nausea is not very pleasant. Travel, eating something that disagrees with your body, feeling sick with the flu, or pregnancy are the most common causes of nausea. While there’s no quick guarantee to feeling better, Hanna did share home remedies for how to take the nauseous feelings down a bit, so you can get back to enjoying life, and we have a wide range of homeopathics for nausea, as well. Try these remedies; we think you’ll be surprised by how well they work.

Hanna’s Home Remedies for Nausea

The nausea remedies Hanna shared with us through her writings are those that she found to be effective when advising the people who came to see her. While some of these may seem outdated to you, we think you’ll be surprised at the relief they can bring! There’s a reason they worked for many; maybe they will work for you!

  • Make a tea of Summer savory or add ½ a teaspoon to your meals. (Summer savory is an herb and can be found on the herb and spice aisle of your local markets.)
  • If nausea is constant, try peach tree leaf as a tea.  Peach leaf was a favorite of Hanna’s for morning sickness but she

stressed the importance of finding a good product. Because the primary job of a peach tree is to supply peaches, farmers often spray the leaves of the tree with pesticides to provide a good crop. Pesticides are so harmful for us and we have searched near and far to be able to supply you with organic, natural peach leaf that has NOT been tainted with pesticides!
  • Try smelling flowers to relieve the sudden onset of nausea when you’re outdoors.
  • There are several spices you can use to address nausea like nutmeg, ginger, clove oil, and cinnamon. Ginger candies are especially useful when travel brings nausea! Pack several pieces of the candy in your bag to curb the feeling. Use each of these spices as a tea or add them to your food to find relief. Clove oil, when inhaled, is effective at calming nauseous feelings.
  • Lemon balm and Peppermint, as tea or added to food, will help ease nausea.
  • A recommendation for morning or travel sickness that brings nausea is to fold a newspaper and hold it against your solar plexus for a few minutes. (Your solar plexus is located at the base of the breastbone.)

Homeopathic remedies are safe and effective ways to address a variety of ailments and our line is quite extensive. Herbal and homeopathic remedies are integral parts of natural healing and we hope you will consider them to get to a healthier you. The following are an example of the uses of these homeopathics to address nausea:

  • Nausea following an episode of coughing, Ipecac
  • Nausea following meals or while smoking or during menstration, Nux Vomica
  • Nausea during pregnancy or for nausea that is relieved by eating, Sepia
  • Nausea relieved by drinking liquids, Bryonia Alba

Hanna believed that nausea was a sign that our bodies were telling us something and that we needed to listen closely. Neglect of our systems through an improper diet is an easy adjustment if we are willing to make small changes and Hanna taught us that nausea is a sign that we are neglecting our diets. In her book “Help One Another” she said:

“Healthy food is not plastic, refined, puffed up, stabilized, or chemicalized for appearance, preservation, or shelf life. It is not bleached or sprayed, green-picked, eggs or meat or milk from hormone and drug fed animals. Our food provides the nutrients we require to stay healthy. Be grateful for your food and consider the proper quality, quantity and preparation. An indication of neglect of our diet is nausea.”

If you are pregnant, please check with your physician before using any herbal remedies to address your ailments.
