It is our hope that through this blog and our facebook page that we will be able to gather stories of your interactions with Hanna. We are interested in any interaction you would like to share and hope you’ll do so in the comment boxes below or on our facebook page.

Hanna’s methods live on through her books, video, and her special herbal formulas which are still made today. We want to keep the spirit of Hanna alive by sharing your anecdotes of meeting her, finding healing through one of her formulas, or even a story passed to you by someone who was touched by her life. We are proud to follow her calling to help others every day and hope to share how she has helped you in a coming blog.

Hanna Kroeger taught us to help others, as well as ourselves

Throughout her life, Hanna Kroeger led by example.  As she taught many of her customers and students how to achieve better health naturally through a good diet, herbs and exercise, she never preached what she did not practice.

 This year, following Hanna’s lead, we have decided to put more effort into following her call to everyone worldwide to “Help One Another.”  So far in 2011 Hanna’s Herb Shop and Kroeger Herb Products have made donations of herbal supplements to two wonderful groups. These donations, while used for different purposes, will assist Natural Doctors International and A Child’s Dream…Fulfilled in their pursuits of helping others.

Help One Another Internationally

We teamed up with Natural Doctors International to follow Hanna's call to Help One Another

Natural Doctors International (NDI) functions as a group of doctors and medical students who are attempting to bring natural medicine to a global community. Each year students and physicians embark on a number of trips to places like Nicaragua, Mexico, Rwanda and Kenya, among others. During these trips the ultimate goal is to introduce natural herbs and medicines to communities and to teach the people how to stop the spread of diseases from the common cold to HIV/AIDS.  Kroeger Herb Products donated cases of Black Cohosh Complete Concentrate and Cranberry Complete Concentrate to NDI for their upcoming trip to Nicaragua this year. Help One Another Locally

We follwed the call to Help One Another in our own backyard in Colorado!

March was a busy time for A Child’s Dream in Loveland, Colorado with their 5^th Annual Mardi Gras Fashion Show fundraiser.  Hanna’s Herb Shop was happy to get involved with this local non-profit organization that makes dreams come true for deserving young children in northern Colorado. With our donation of Olive Leaf Herbal Combination samples we were able to share with the attendees the immune boosting power that can be found in natural products. Equally as exciting for us–sharing products for men and women as well as Sunny Day Vitamins to be used as silent auction items to help A Child’s Dream raise money to grant great dreams in 2011. Donating to a local charity was a gratifying way for us to help others and we know the success of the fundraiser means great things for children in northern Colorado. While these donations were small we hope they will make a big impact in the lives of others and that’s something we are proud of. By following in the footsteps of Hanna Kroeger and keeping her “Help One Another” philosophy alive Kroeger Herb Products and Hanna’s Herb Shop are making a small difference, one donation at a time.

Even if a monetary donation isn’t within your reach this year, spring is just around the corner and many organizations are actively seeking volunteers! From building a house to delivering meals or even helping in community gardens, there’s a place for everyone to reach out and Help One Another.

Hanna was a natural healer and worked hard to bring healing to those who came to see her.

Hey guys. I thought it would be fun this week to talk a little bit about the process by which some of Hanna’s formulas came into being and how her natural healing happened behind the scenes every day.

Hanna had contact with many people both through her travels where she gave lectures on health and healing and through her Peaceful Meadow Retreat, where she taught closer to home, actually, right out of her home.  Many people would seek her out when they had some kind of health issue and they were unsure what the next step was. Usually she had a ready answer for them. But not always.

When she was stumped, she was not accepting of that as the final answer and she would put it to the frontline of her efforts until she came up with an answer. I especially remember one time when she was trying to come up with a solution for people with benign cysts. I had only been working for Kroeger for a relatively short amount of time and she came to me with a list of three herbs; Cottonwood Leaf, Grape Leaf and Chaparral Leaf, and the proportions to mix them. Now these are not all commonly traded herbs through the normal channels. Luckily we have many different options when it comes to sourcing raw materials. Though, it still is a challenge when they are new to our operation.

Well we all got right on the task of getting the herbs in, getting them to our resident miller and encapsulated as fast as we could. Which we thought was pretty fast. Hanna had a different opinion. You see. Once Hanna came up with her solution, she had already spread the word that it was available and she would check in with us every day to see if it was ready and usually well before it was done we would start getting orders for it from stores around the country.

We have always enjoyed the challenge and even though she often made us look like we were slowpokes holding back the healing medicine from her faithful followers, it was an honor to work so closely with such an amazing woman.

Hanna Kroeger

May 7, 2011 marked the 13th anniversary of Hanna’s passing. This blog post from 2009 was our first entry in the creation of the blog and Hanna was the subject. If you’ve never read this post, take a look! It gives you a glimpse into the busy days in the bustling New Age Foods Store on Pearl Street where Hanna helped so many people.

Hanna would walk in the back of her store at a brisk pace, through the stock room, past her employees and into the retail area.  She would stay just long enough to see how many people were waiting to see her.  Four days a week from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm she would share her knowledge with people seeking her help.  They would start lining up sometimes hours before she got there so they could be first in line.  She would survey the line, see how many people were waiting and after a quick hello to her employees jump into her tiny examination room and start with each person’s needs.

The room was all of about 6 ft by 6 ft and was filled with vitamin and herbal supplements from floor to ceiling and covering every wall.  There were a few small chairs and just enough room to stand if you weren’t lucky enough to get a chair.  By the time she asked you how you were doing and what you had come to see her for she was half way to determining it on her own.  You might have a specific need you wanted her to address and she would listen to your ideas but would already have a suggestion in hand or a flyer ready for you to read.  She would answer your questions, tell you what to do and then stood up and walked out of the room (expecting you to follow) and motioning for the next person in line to go in the room for their turn.

She gave you time to tell your story, to look at what suggestions she had in mind and probably even gave you a little bottle of the product she thought would help you.  The only thing she didn’t give you was the time to absorb what your next step was.  That you had to do on your own.  “Next!” she would say. And there you were, already out the door and talking with one of her employees trying to get all of your questions answered.  Once you got your answers, you took your new remedies home and started on them right away and before you knew it felt very good in little time.  She must be good you would say, I feel much better.  That’s probably why the next time you waited in line to see her you didn’t protest her style, you did what you did last time and in no time you  were feeling well again.  That was Hanna, she helped you feel better and that was always her bottom line.  It soon became yours!

To celebrate the life of Hanna and her work, we wanted to include 2 recipes for you that are a part of her book, “Ageless Remedies from Mother’s Kitchen.” This book is important to the memory of Hanna because of her firm belief in finding healing in your own kitchen. We hope you will enjoy these remedies and will consider trying them.

DIARRHEA–Brew a strong pot of black tea and drink 1 or 2 cups unsweetened, sipping slowly. (Hanna once recommended to one of us here at Hanna’s to drink the tea as hot as possible. IF YOU DO THIS–please be careful to not burn yourself!)

BACK PAIN–Heat salt until hot in a skillet, wrap in a towel or cloth and lay the heated salt bundle over your back where you are experiencing pain. Not only does this hot salt filled cloth contour to your back and provide heat therapy, the salt helps to draw the pain from your system.
