Happy Men’s Health Week!

200443793-001Statistics indicate that women are 100% more likely to visit the doctor for annual examinations and preventative services than men. While we’re thinking of how to celebrate dad in June, it’s important to consider all the men in your life and how you can ensure they are as healthy as possible. June is Men’s Health Month and people across the country are wearing blue to show they’re paying attention to issues surrounding the quality of life for the men in their lives and this week, June 10-16th, is especially important because it’s Men’s Health Week!

The purpose behind Men’s Health Week is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. Did you know prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men but can be detected early and cured yet it kills approximately 30,000 men each year?

Men, be proactive with your health by getting regular screenings and annual examinations. Women, help the men in your life to take the guesswork out of their wellbeing by encouraging them to seek regular medical attention.

From the health of your own body to the health of the men in your family and even reaching out into your community and beyond, let’s help one another be proactive and get the proper screenings and attention.
