The Warming, Healing, Natural Power of Tea

October 13th, 2011 · 3 Comments · home remedy

Sweaters, soups and stews, cozy fires and hot beverages are being ushered in with the change of the seasons. As we head into fall we are reaching for things that will warm us from the inside out and teas are at the top of the list for most.

Tea is a natural herbal remedy for many ailments. Tap into its healing powers

Sipping hot tea satisfies something very basic within us once the temperature drops outside and there are a variety of teas that can not only warm us but also heal with their medicinal benefits. Soothing a sore throat, easing a cough, addressing an upset stomach or calming a troubled mind are possible through the effective blends of teas. While humans have relied on plants as a source of food for thousands of years, we have moved away from finding the healing quality in them over time. Why has this changed? The ease of purchasing something from behind or over-the-counter has discouraged us from looking to dried fruits, flowers or herbs to address our ailments in a natural way and we hope we can open a door to begin to alter this thinking.

Herbal Tea as a Natural Remedy

Hanna Kroeger taught us that there’s an herb for nearly every ailment and her special teas are excellent examples! In addition to addressing a number of ailments, herbal teas provide hydration and even aromatherapy as you drink and have been used for thousands of years to treat illness.  The tea blends Hanna created are one-of-a-kind and provide a unique experience as the essential oils and other healing substances are released during steeping. In sharing a selection of Hanna’s teas below, we hope you will consider utilizing the healing power of herbs this fall and winter when illnesses creep in.

Thyme Leaf is dried and blended in several of our herbal teas.

Red Clover can ease tension when enjoyed in our teas.

NRV- Formerly Nerve Tea. This special blend of Lemon Balm leaf, Strawberry leaf, Sage leaf and Woodruff leaf soothe an edgy and nervous body.

SLP- Formerly Sleep Tea. Get to goodnight faster with Hops flower, Linden flower, Lemon Balm leaf, Orange flower and Poppy flower.

The fresh taste of lemon balm adds a wonderful aroma to our TNS tea.

TRD- Formerly Tired Blood Tea. This blend of Nettle leaf, St. John’s Wort herb, Peppermint leaf, Rosebud, Sage leaf and Yarrow flower offers natural support for people with anemic indications.

Hanna perfected these tea blends over time out of a need to address ailments naturally. We are proud to offer each of these loose teas and believe in their healing qualities. Honey and lemon can be added to adjust the taste to your preference, though many allow the natural taste of the blends to stand alone. Each of these teas are loose leaf blends so may want to consider using a tea ball or infuser to keep the herbs and flowers from floating in your cup.  (we offer several options of each)

Please note that herbal teas can have different effects from person to person. Don’t forget to consult your healthcare practitioner before trying herbal teas.
